In loving memory of John Vernon Laurents, (also known to many as “Bum”, “Mr. John”, and “Big John”), was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and cherished member of the community. John Vernon breathed his last on April 9, 2024, at his residence in Buna, Texas, leaving behind a legacy that will forever echo through the hearts he touched.
Born on December 20, 1945, in Port Neches, Texas, John Vernon's journey through life was marked by his passion for antique cars. His love for these classic treasures illuminated his days and brought joy to those around him. A man of unwavering dedication and kindness, John Vernon's presence was a beacon of warmth wherever he went.
Survived by his beloved wife, Jean Laurents of Buna, Texas; devoted son Curtis Laurents (Faith Ann) of Fannett, Texas; as well as three grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews, all who meant the world to him. John Vernon was also survived by his brothers: Mike Laurents (Rose Ann) of Bandera, Texas; Todd Laurents (Alice) of Gist, Texas; and sister Jeanette Bourgeois of Groves, Texas.
A visitation will be held in honor of John Vernon Laurents on April 19, 2024, at 1:00 PM followed by a Memorial Service at 2:00 PM at 2001 Nall St, Port Neches, Texas 77651. These events seek to commemorate a life well-lived and to celebrate the everlasting impact John Vernon had on all who knew him.
John Vernon's departure has left a void in our lives, but his spirit will continue to shine bright through the memories we hold dear. May he rest in peace knowing that he was deeply loved and will be sorely missed by all who had the privilege to know him.
