John Henry Lloyd, 90, of Beaumont, Texas passed away on Friday, October 9, 2015. John was born on December 13, 1924 in Bremond, Texas to the late Will and Etta Lloyd.
John is a Veteran of the U.S. Navy where he served on the USS Alhena during WWII, He is the Past Master of the Sour Lake Masonic Lodge 1002, the Port Neches Masonic Lodge 1163 and the Groves Masonic Lodge 1315. He was Life Member of both the American Legion and the VFW, he is a member of the American Bowling Congress and a member of the Bowler’s Hall of fame for bowling not one but two perfect 300 games and John is a retiree of Southern Pacific Railroad with 36 years of service.
Surviving John are his son, Gene Richey and his wife Kay of Port Neches; daughter, Linda McCrary of Dayton; four grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. John is also survived by his nephews, Freddie Ray Zack and Jerry Lloyd Crow and his niece, Billie Jean Prince. John is preceded in death by his wife, Betty Walsh Lloyd; brothers, Weldon and Waylon Lloyd; his sisters, Verna Ruth Zach, Lora Kenneth Bilbro, Velda Fae Watson and Doris Marie Crow and his nephew, Robert Lloyd Watson.
The family will receive friends on Monday evening, October 12th from 5:00p.m.-8:00p.m. at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland. The funeral service will be on Tuesday, October 13th at 11:00a.m. at Melancon’s Funeral Home with Rev. John Mooney, officiant. Burial will follow at Pine Ridge Cemetery in Sour Lake.
