John Wendell May, 74, of Groves, TX, died Saturday, March 23, 2013, at St. Mary's Hospital in Port Arthur, TX. Wendell was born on March 8, 1939 in Troup, Texas to Green Berry and Jessie May. He was a 70 year resident of Groves and retired from Huntsman after 33 years of service. Wendell loved working with his hands building anything that could be built with a piece of wood, a hammer and some nails. Over his lifetime, he built many homes and cabinets and, most recently, developed a passion for making decorative crosses. Wendell had a good sense of humor and loved a good joke, especially if he was telling it. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 26, 2013, from 12:30 pm to 2:00 pm at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves, TX, with funeral services immediately following at 2:00 pm. Officiating will be Travis Cox of Friendship Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Wendell is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Pat May of Groves, TX; four children, Cindy Walker and husband, Keith, of Spring, TX; Pam Shaw and husband, Joe, of Katy, TX; Jan Borque and husband, Brent, of Spring, TX; Berry May and wife, Mitsy, of Groves, TX; eight grandchildren who loved and adored their PawPaw Kyler, Kassidy, Jamie, Kellie, Lindsey, Lacey, Shelby and Kiley; sister, Dixie Casey and husband, Mike, of Port Arthur, TX; sister-in-law, Jackie May, of Groves, TX; sister-in-law, Frances Morrison, of Katy, TX; brother-in-law, Robert Johnson and wife, Amanda, of Nederland, TX; sister-in-law, Joyce Crorey of Huntsville, TX;and sister-in-law, Julie Roberts of Humble, TX; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews and friends. Wendell is preceded in death by his parents and his twin brother, Weldon May.
