John and I shared a history of being former Marines. His time of service was only a little ahead of mine. He was a presence on the firing line at the Golden Triangle Gun Club and helped many a new shooter get "snapped in". How many matches he ran will never be known, it seemed like he was a fixture at the range. He ran a solid match, as long as you followed the rules and were safe on the line. Quick to correct but quick to soften the instruction. It was a joy to know him. David Hartman - Beaumont
