John W. Myer, 90, of Port Arthur, Texas, passed away January 7, 2018 at Timberwood Nursing Home in Livingston, Texas. He was born on March 21, 1927 in Port Arthur to the late William and Elenore DeKerligan Myer. John worked for Chevron Oil Corp. and was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Port Neches. John served his country proudly in the U. S. Navy.
John is survived by his daughter, Kristine Cortez and her husband, Jorge of West Orange; his sons, Mark D. Myer and his wife, Patricia of Livingston, Terry Myer and his wife, Nancy of Groves, Edward Myer and his wife, Shirley of Nederland, and Matthew Myer and his wife, Loreta of Pflugerville; 9 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and his cousin, Shirley Kewley. He is preceded in death by his wife, Martha Jeanne Bisett Myer; his sister, Maissie; and his sons, Robert Dennis Myer and Phillip Dennis Myer.
A gathering of family and friends will be Thursday, January 11, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Melancon’s Funeral Home with a rosary at 6:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, January 12, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Port Neches with interment at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches.
