John Wesley Newton, 79 of Crystal Beach, passed away on Saturday, June 29, 2024 in Galveston, Texas.
Born in Beaumont, Texas, on April 11, 1945, he was the son of Frank Gober Newton and Helen Virginia Newton.
John worked at Gulf States Utilities/Entergy for 35 years in various roles working hard to keep the lights on. He was a dedicated employee and built so many great work relationships. You could always count on him to get the job done. He was a dedicated family man, loving father, and grandfather.
John loved the beach and cruising around the Caribbean, always looking forward to his next adventure.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Helen, and his granddaughter, Alexia Rayne Flory.
Those that will be missing John are his wife of 47 years, Patricia “Pat” Newton of Crystal Beach, son, J.W. Newton of Anchorage, Alaska, daughter, Dawn Ford Flory and her husband, Greg of Gardnerville, Nevada, and son, Jared Newton and his wife, Katie, of Minneapolis, Minnesota. He will also be missed by his grandchildren, Aden Flory, Camden Flory, James Newton, and Caroline Newton.
John’s life will be remembered during a visitation at 12:00 pm held at Melancon Levingston Funeral Home in Nederland followed by a funeral service at 1:00 pm. John will be laid to rest at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Nederland, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude’s Research Hospital for Children.
