My father was a great man who was poorly honored when he passed. I still think about him. Mike Oliver

I have several memories of Uncle John from when I was young. He and I spent a lot of time together. He was my biggest rival every Thanksgiving when the Fighting Texas Aggies played UT. We would exchange banter back and forth with each other every Thanksgiving about who was going to win the game. He would tell me, "just remember, tha horns are THE University of Texas!" There is not now and never will be, a Thanksgiving that I don't think about him and the fun we had on that particular day. I admired Uncle John my whole life. Someone asked me this past week, did I think that he was happy with the life he lived. I can answer that with absolute certainty, yes! He lived a good life and is a man worthy of admiration. He loved my Aunt Patti and his children endlessly. I will miss talking with you Uncle John but I know we will talk again one day. Until then, Gig'em!;)

Uncle John was a quiet man; soft spoken, and the example of a gentleman. Most of my memories of him center around the many holidays our family gathered together to celebrate. Uncle John was a gun enthusiast and and at some point during the family time, my brother, my cousins, and I would usually end up standing around the back of Uncle John's truck checking out a cool new gun he had bought, and hearing an even cooler story behind it. He took me on my first flounder fishing trip as a kid. Although I learned to wait for the second knock before setting the hook when a flounder bites, the most important thing he taught me on that trip was how to tell a good fish story! I can't leave out one thing Uncle John (and Aunt Patti and the girls) did for me and my wife that we'll always be grateful for and we'll never forget. Shortly before we got married he gave me his dog. MidKnight was a black Labrador he had won at a Ducks Unlimited banquet, and raised from a pup. He was a remarkable dog in every way. It was only after he became mine that I realized how much Uncle John had given me, and I'll be forever grateful. Rest In Peace Uncle John. Clint Wilson
