John Franklin Paul, 74, of Port Neches, Texas passed away on Wednesday, April 6, 2022, at his residence with his loving family at his side.
“Johnny” was born on July 13, 1947, in Dallas, Texas to Elsie Marceline Johnson Paul and Thomas Paul. He graduated from Lamar University in Beaumont; was a Vietnam Army Veteran where he received the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal with Bronze Service Star. He was a member of the American Legion in Nederland and the V.F.W. Post #797 in Port Arthur. Johnny enjoyed woodworking, fishing, canning, crossword puzzles and reading the newspaper. He was funny, straight forward and had an “I Gotta Be Me” attitude while having a kind old soul and a love for his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Johnny’s love did not stop with his family. He would find joy in buying things for people in need. He had a very giving heart and loved helping others. Johnny loved people and they loved him back; he will be missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Johnny is survived by the love of his life, his wife of thirty-eight years, Gail Paul of Port Neches; step-daughters, Marcella Hanlon and her husband Michael Hanlon of Groves and Corinna Guy and her husband Richard Guy, Jr. of Port Neches; step-son, Stephen Lopez of Houston; his son, Joe Paul and his wife, Windi; grandchildren, Michael Guy, Tristen Guy, Tyler Hanlon, James Guy, Sierra Guy, Chelsea Guy, Jolie Paul, Reno Paul, Killian Paul, John Paul, Victor Solis; his great grandchildren, Addison Paul, Levi Paul, Liam Paul and Lennyn Guy; his brother, Bill Paul of Nederland and numerous loving family members and friends.
Johnny is preceded in death by his parents, Elsie Marceline Johnson and Thomas Franklin Paul; his brother, Anthony Paul; his sister, Linda Paul; grandson, Logan Paul and great nephew Waylon Paul.
A “Celebration of Life” Memorial Service to Honor the Life of John Franklin Paul will be held at 5:00 p.m. Monday, April 11, 2022, at Melancon's Funeral Home in Nederland. A visitation will be held before service time from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
