John Henry Somerville, 90, of Port Arthur, Texas died Sunday, December 14, 2014. John was born January 10, 1924 in Clementon, New Jersey to John Wesley and Elizabeth Somerville. John was a resident of Port Arthur for 68 years and longtime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He retired after 38 years of service as a carpenter from Gulf Oil Refinery. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran. John was preceded in death by his son, Ronald Charles Somerville. Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Clara M. Somerville of Port Arthur, TX; daughter, Mary Jo Garza and husband Carlos of Angleton, TX; son, Darrell Somerville and wife Roxanne of Groves, TX; seven grandchildren, Ronald Somerville and wife Darlene, Lori Randel and Bill Privitera, Ryan Somerville and wife LeaAnn, Angie Melancon and husband Michael, Jamie Wilson and husband Kris, Stephen Garza, Gabriel Garza, and Elizabeth Garza; twelve great-grandchildren, Scottlon, Shelby, Sydney, Allison, Matthew, Giovanna, Meredith, Austen, CaylIn, Callie, Cate and Preston. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, December 18, 2014 from 5:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves. A Rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 19, 2014 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Reverend D. Stephen McCrate officiating.
