Johnny Mac Krautz I

Johnny Mac Krautz I, of Taylor Landing, Texas passed away at St. Luke’s Hospital in Houston, Texas with his loving family at his side.

Johnny was born on November 14, 1944, in Port Arthur, Texas to Doris McClure Krautz and Henry Krautz. He graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1963; was a retired Supervisor for Texaco Oil Refinery for thirty- seven years and was a devout member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Nederland where he was very involved in many church activities. Johnny loved to hunt and fish and was known as a very good Archer and pool player. He loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren who affectionately called him “Pap Paw” and “Pappy”. Johnny often times referred to himself as a.k.a. “The Legend” and a lot of his friends and family called him by that name. He loved people, his co-workers, church members, friends and especially his family who will all miss him dearly.

Survivors include his wife of fifty-eight years, Dianne Hightower Krautz of Taylor Landing, Texas; children, Johnny Krautz II and his wife Deena of Port Neches, Mike Krautz and his wife Marta of Nederland and Missy Sturdivant and her husband Spikes of Groves; sisters, Karen Thompson and her husband Ron of Nederland and Linda Bradley and her husband Vernon of Fort Worth; grandchildren, Justin Krautz, Austin Krautz and his wife Maddy, Hannah Ray and her husband Christopher, Abbey Jackson and her husband David, Michael Krautz and John Krautz; great grandchildren, Waylon Ray, Emmi Jo Ray, Josi Gayle Jackson. Johnny was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Doris Krautz.

A visitation will take place from 4:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Sunday, May 22, 2022, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Nederland located at 2711 Helena Ave.; Nederland, TX 77627. Services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 23, 2022, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church with Entombment to follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches under the direction of Melancon Funeral Home in Nederland, Texas.

Serving as Pallbearers will be Justin Krautz, Austin Krautz, John Krautz, Michael Krautz, Chris Ray, David Jackson and Dannis McCullough.

Johnny, I’ll never pass by the train tracks at the Houston medical center without thinking about you insisting you wanted to ride that thing over to visit someone else who was in a nearby hospital. That was the day Spikes rang the bell and y’all let me tag along with y’all. You lived so well. We will miss you and look forward to meeting on the streets of gold one day.

Johnny, we will always and forever miss you. You were good to Don and I. Always happy to do something for somebody. Over 50 years of loving and respecting you and beautiful Dianne.
