Johnny Lopez

​Johnny Lopez, 80, of Nederland, Texas passed away on Sunday, March 19, 2023 at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont, Texas. Johnny was born on July 8, 1942 in Orange, Texas to the late Margareto Lopez and Guadalupe Estorga Barrows.

​After graduating from Thomas Jefferson High School, Johnny proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. After Johnny was honorably discharged from the Marine Corps, he began a long and successful career at Jefferson Chemical also known as Texaco Chemical and more recently as Huntsman. Johnny retired as the Chemical Plant Supervisor after 37 hard earned years. Johnny was a man of integrity that led by example and revolved his life around loving and supporting his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather that leaves behind a wonderful legacy to all his family and friends.

Those left behind to cherish Johnny’s memory are his loving wife of forty-four years, Sue Lopez; his son, Michael Lopez of Lake Charles; his daughter, Alita Carr and her husband, Paul of Groves; his daughter, Misty Greene and her husband, Clint of Nederland; his five grandchildren; and his two great grandchildren.

Johnny is preceded in death by his parents, Margareto Lopez and Guadalupe Barrows; and his sister, Martha Middlebrook.

Those that have the honor of serving as pallbearers are Michael Lopez, Paul Carr, Clint Greene, Justin Buchanan-Lopez, Don Muñoz and CJ Lowrey.

A gathering of family and friends for a visitation will take place on Wednesday, March 22, 2023 from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland, Texas. A graveside service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday March 22, 2023 at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches, Texas.
