I didn't know Johnny, but I can see how wonderful of a man he was because David is married to my sister and he is a fabulous husband and father, which he obviously learned from Johnny. I love you all and pray for you to have peace and comfort.

I first met Johnny when he was playing for a dance I was attending at the Beehive in Port Arthur. He was playing with Dale and Butch Landry. I met Judy Elam Piggott at that time, too, and the four of us remained close friends for years and then drifted our separate ways after we moved to the Baytown area. Dale and Johnny would occasionally play their music together from time to time over the years and they both mentored and admired the talent of Johnny's son, Barry. I last saw Johnny at his wife, Judy's, funeral several years ago and visiting with him brought back so many memories. RIP old friend....Vaya con Dios
