Johnny “James” Strawther, 41, of Beaumont passed away on Thursday, November 25, 2021, at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont, Texas.
James was born on October 6, 1980, in Galveston, Texas to Carolyn Strawther Martinez and Mario Martinez, Sr. He graduated from Beaumont Westbrook in 1998 and was a former member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Nederland. James loved Packman, music, writing letters and collecting bugs. He was a lover of chocolate, flowers and eating snacks. James enjoyed watching Blue’s Clues and going for walks with his dad and they would also go to the car wash every day and always find time to get James a balloon for the day. He was known as mama and daddy’s “Little Angel” and will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He was loved by his family and he loved them.
Survivors include his parents, Mario Martinez, Sr. and Carolyn Martinez of Beaumont; sister, Elizabeth Riojas of Beaumont; brother, Mario Martinez, Jr. of Beaumont; nieces and nephews, Lilian Riojas, Lydia Riojas and Juan Gabriel Riojas.
A visitation will take place from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Sunday, November 28, 2021, at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland with a Rosary to be recited at 6:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. A Chapel Service to Honor the Life of Johnny James Strawther will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Monday with burial to follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Nederland, Texas.
