Jose Jaime Tamez, 65, of Groves, Texas passed away on Saturday, September 18, 2021, at the Medical Center of Southeast Texas in Port Arthur.
Jaime was born on March 30, 1956, in Monterrey, Mexico to Aurora Carrizales Tamez and Gerardo Rodriguez Tamez, Sr. He was a retired operator for Gulf Oil Refinery and Total for over forty years. Jaime was a member of the Immaculate Conception/St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Groves and a graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School in 1974 where he played baseball for the Yellow Jackets. He loved to go to the casino in Lake Charles and in Las Vegas with his friends and family. Jaime loved to play golf and loved watching his son Jaime and grandson Baylor play baseball that he had such a passion for as did they.
Survivors include his son, Jaime Tamez of Port Neches; step-daughter, Heather Alexander of Cypress, Texas; his siblings, Gerardo Tamez, Jr. and his wife Debi of Groves, Antonio Tamez and his wife Sandy of Spring, Texas, Porfidio “Pilo” Tamez of Cypress, Texas, Sylvia Tamez Garcia and her husband Armando of Groves, Juan Tamez and his wife, Kathy of Groves and Salvador Tamez of Laguna, California; his only grandchild, Baylor Tamez of Port Neches; his ex-wife and friend, Lisa Rowland; his beloved companion, his pitbull Eden who was by his side for over fifteen years; a host of nieces and nephews and other family members who all loved him dearly.
A visitation will take place from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday, September 27, 2021, at Melancon Funeral Home in Nederland with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. A Chapel Service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 28, 2021, at Melancon Funeral Home to Honor the Life of Jaime Tamez with burial to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves, Texas.
Serving as Pallbearers will be Armando Garcia, Mark Gilbert, Randy Jarrell, Ronnie LaSalle, David McCoy and Danny Roccaforte and Honorary Pallbearer will be Baylor Tamez.
