He was also an active fisherman and hunter who enjoyed selling knives, attending gun shows and reloading his own ammunition. He loved traveling, gardening, and cooking. He perfected his version of pecan pies, date nut loaf, and gumbo, which he shared with many.

Joe loved spending time with his three children, 12 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Pat Mansfield; brother, Cliff Mansfield and wife, Cheryl; son, Jeffrey Mansfield and wife, Kathleen and their children, Kathryn Mansfield, Joseph Mansfield, Kaitlin Mansfield Weldon and husband, Blake, Madeline Mansfield and Grace Mansfield; daughter, Marji Gausepohl and husband, Jason and children, Raymond Trahan III, Joseph Marc Trahan and wife, Lindsey, Leah Alsibaa and husband, Hadi, and Josiah Gausepohl; and daughter, Carole Jones and husband, Troy and their children, Tyler Jones, Gabby Jones, and Andrew Jones. It is with great sadness to hear of the passing of Joe. He was great man and a great friend to my mom Nevada Brison. He would come and visit her and bring her a pecan pie. I bet he showed up to heaven with a pecan pie and said well here I am who wants a piece. Mr. Joe you will be missed

Pat, and family, Randy and I are so sorry to hear of Joe's passing. I did not know he had been sick. Joe was one my favorite people at Texaco Research. He had the best sense of humor, and could make even the tough days a little lighter. So many fond memories come to mind of Joe, that I can hear his voice and see his smile and the twinkle in his eye. You're in our thoughts and prayers. love, Debbie Petty

Prayers for the Mansfield family. When I recall my Texaco days, Joe and the friendship we had come to mind first and foremost. I searched many times to try to find contact info for him once we left Jefferson County. He was such a brilliant man, friend, and such a jokester. We will lift you in prayer in the weeks ahead.

Pat and Family, Vicki and I are saddened by the news of Joe’s passing. Like so many others we have many great memories of him and were blessed to have known him. He was a wonderful friend and mentor who taught me so much as we worked together at Texaco. We will forever remember his sense of humor — in fact, I still have several cartoons he gave me hanging in my office. Our prayers are with you and we hope to see you on Monday or Tuesday.
