Joseph Michael Rider “Yoda”, 39, of Port Neches, Texas passed away Sunday, October 16, 2022, at UTMB Health League City Hospital. Joseph was born March 20, 1983 in Nederland, Texas to Michael and Donna Rider.
Joseph was a devoted son, brother, uncle, husband, father and friend. He was a proud uncle and very active in his nieces’ and nephew’s lives. Joseph was a thoughtful and giving person to many people in his life. He was a great listener and would always go out of his to help others in need. Joseph was also known for his “famous” Yoda burritos.
Joseph had a love for Marvel Comics, Star Wars, WWE, and AEW. He was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys, Port Neches High School football and Chicago Cubs baseball. Joseph also loved playing his PlayStation, watching The Walking Dead, collecting Funko Pops and spending quality time with his children and wife. Joseph’s favorite rock band was Guns N’ Roses.
Joseph is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Robert and Lilly Broussard; paternal grandparents, Kenneth Wayne Rider and Martha Gwendolyn Rider.
Those left behind to cherish Joseph’s memory are his loving wife, Melinda Rider of Port Neches; children, Noah, Aiden, and Logan; parents, Michael Wayne Rider and Donna Gail Rider; brother, Anthony Wayne Rider and his wife, Christi; nieces and nephews, Jasmine Rider, Kiera Kemper, Anthony Wayne Rider, Jr.; Kemon Kemper and Marcus Rider; mother in law, Carla Mosley; father in law, August Mosley; sisters-in-law, Luci Laughlin and her husband, Josh; Teresa Wallace and her husband, Chris; April Nicholson, Terrie Nesbitt and her fiancé, Cedric McDuffie; brothers-in-law, Samuel Mosley, Wiley Mosley and his wife, Angie; Nolan Mosley and his girlfriend, Chelsea; Drake Mosley and his wife, Allie. Joseph also leaves behind a host of extended family and dear friends.
In lieu of flowers the family requests all Memorial Contributions in honor of Joseph M. Rider be made to his wife and children. An account at MCT Credit Union is set up.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Sunday, October 23, 2022 from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., with a Celebration of Joseph’s Life to begin at 3:00 p.m., at Melancon’s Funeral Home. A cremation will take place following the service. The family wishes to celebrate Joseph’s life by having everyone who attends his visitation and service wear their favorite Marvel Comics or Star Wars T-Shirt.
