Joseph "Pete" Trosclair

1931 ∼ 2015

Capt. Joseph I. "Pete" Trosclair, 83, of Groves passed away Saturday January 3, 2015 at his residence. Joseph was born September 14, 1931 in Houma, Louisiana to Angelo Trosclair and Louise Foret Trosclair. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Groves. He worked at Kirby Inland Transportation. Spent many years as Captain aboard many vessels for Kirby. Later years spent 17 and a half years on the MV. Dixie Star and also on the Dixie Patriot. After working hard for 50 years he decided to finally retire at the age of 62. On his time off he always enjoyed spending time on his shrimp boat catching fresh Shrimp and crabs. He was able to make his very own shrimp nets whom he learned from his father. He continued the tradition making nets for his friends. Pete loved his wonderful wife and family with all his heart. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. Most of all he loved to worship and hear the word of his Lord. He had two amazing shrimping buddies (Mark and Bill) that always loved to help and learn from the experienced shrimper. There were many others that he cherished in his life's journey. He always put people in front of himself and always loved giving advice to his children and grandchildren. He has always been a great figure of not only a husband, but a great father for his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will and always will be missed by all of those that he influenced in his life. But life is only the beginning as his soul is now resting in a great place. He might not be with us at this moment, but he and the Lord shall watch over us as long as we live. Pete was preceded in death by his sister Irene Parfait, brothers George Trosclair and Angelo Trosclair, son Kenneth James Trosclair, and grandsons Jody Dwight Vickers and Kevin Paul Dietrich. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday January 6, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. with Dr. Joe Worley and Reverend Charles Miller officiating at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves. Aunt Pearl, I am heart broken to hear of Uncle Pete's passing. He is no longer suffering. He is at peace and with Maw-Maw and Paw-Paw, he got to see his brother that died as an infant Angelo Jr., Uncle Gorge, Aunt Irene, his son Kenney and a host of others. We will miss him. His brother Niss is taking it hard and can't make it out there, if he could he would. My heart goes out to you and the family. Your Nephew, Nathan A. Trosclair

I didn't know Pete, but I do know his grandson Jeff Lee, who I consider one of the finest people I know. I also know some of his family, and know he comes from good stock. I offer my condolences to the Trosclair family and are praying God's peace for them.

I just want to express my deepest sorrow for a very special and dear friend Mr. Pete. He was not only special to me because we had a common love of shrimping which he taught me so much about but as someone that contributed so much to his wife and family. All I can say is that he did witness to me and expressed his love of God regularly. I know now you are in Heaven with our Father. Mr. Pete it was a pleasure and an honor being your friend. Watch over me as I try and honor you with all that you taught me about our passion with shrimping. I love you.
