Josephine “Josie” Tomplait, 74, of, Port Neches, Texas passed away Friday, June 9, 2023, at Forever Young Home in Groves. Josie was born June 30, 1948 in Bonita, Louisiana to Nick and Mammie Bordonaro.
Josie was a parishioner of St. Therese The Little Flower Catholic Church and was an active member of the Altar Society and St. Christopher’s Kaycetts #3195. She loved sewing and was a fantastic seamstress. She enjoyed playing BINGO and had a love for animals. Josie retired as a Certified Nurse's Assistant after several years in the medical field. Josie’s love for animals, dedication and compassionate heart as a caregiver will be greatly missed.
Josie was preceded in death by her parents, Nick Bordonaro and Mammie (Martin) Bordonaro; brothers, Joe Bordonaro and Nick Bordonaro; sisters, Vita Bordonaro, Rose Bordonaro, Mary Ann Bordonaro, Sally Ann Bordonaro and Francis Morrell; son-in-law, Eugene Davis and grandson, Khayman Davis.
Those left to cherish Josie’s memory include her loving husband of fifty-one years, James Tomplait of Port Neches, Texas; her beloved children, Lee Marie Ryan of Port Neches and Tony Lynn Tomplait and his wife, Jamie of Port Acres; grandsons, Jimmy Ray LeBoeuf of Beaumont, Colton Harris and Kaj Davis; granddaughter, Cora Lee Sells and Makenzie Marie Tomplait; great grandchildren, T’Kia Sells, A’ryah Sells, and Jamal Sells, Jr.
Serving as pallbearers for Ms. Josie include Tony Tomplait, Jody Morrell, Kevin Morrell, Mark Morrell, Trent Dunk and Robert Pickard, Jr. Honorary Pallbearer will be Kaj Davis.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary to be recited at 6:00 p.m., Thursday, June 22, 2023, at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 23, 2023, at St. Therese The Little Flower Catholic Church. Rite of Committal will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Port Arthur.
The family would like to thank Penny Lee and staff at Forever Young located at 2631 Rose Lane in Groves, Texas. The love and care you gave to Josie in her final days was more than we could of asked for. You and your staff made her final hours bearable and we will always be grateful for what you did for her and all of her family as well. We love all of you!! God Bless you all.
