Joy Allen

Joy Allen Jessie Lois "Joy" Allen, 97, of Groves, went to be with her Heavenly Father on February 19, 2013. She was born March 7, 1915 in Bessmay, TX to Thomas R. and Corrie Williford Lumpkin. She had a zest for life until our Lord called her home. She was a devoted wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and aunt. She was an active member at First Baptist Church of Groves and continued to support Fairview Baptist Church at Dam-B where she spent time in earlier years. She lived her entire life in Southeast Texas, 59 years in Groves, but loved to travel to see other parts of the country. She especially loved to spend time in the mountains of Colorado. Besides traveling, she enjoyed spending time in her flower beds, painting, sewing, needlework, and especially cooking for family and friends. In the early 1950's she owned and operated Joyce's Coffee Shop in Port Arthur. She is preceded in death by her parents; siblings T.R. Lumpkin, Lillian Fitzgerald, and Faye Addcox; great-grandchild Caleb Crumpler; niece Janet Addcox Pryor; and nephew Jerry Fitzgerald. She is survived by her husband of 62 years Clifford Allen of Groves, her two sons, Robert Crumpler and wife Verna of Magnolia, Phillip Allen and wife Norresa of Port Neches, seven grandchildren, Randy Crumpler and wife Mary Alice of Grapevine, Lynn Bennett and husband Jackie of Magnolia, Karen Crumpler and husband John of Town Bluff, David Crumpler and wife Deborah of Houston, Susan Crumpler of Houston, Jason Allen and wife Katherine of Port Neches, and Jennifer Curtis and husband Brian of Silsbee, five great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. A gathering of family and friends will be held Friday, February 22 from 5:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves . Funeral service will be at1:00 p.m., Saturday, February 23 at First Baptist Church in Groves. Interment will follow at 3:30 p.m., in Pedigo Cemetery at Town Bluff. In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to Harbor Hospice, 2450 N. Major Drive, Beaumont, TX 77713; Pedigo Cemetery Fund, c/o Jack Pedigo, P.O.
