Joy Theresa Hardy, 85, of Nederland, Texas passed away on Saturday, April 23, 2022, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont, Texas.
Joy was born on January 10, 1937, in Port Arthur, Texas to Laurence Barras Brown and Roland James Brown. She graduated from Bishop Byrne High School in 1955 and was a wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who took care of family who she loved dearly. Joy loved to talk on the phone and visit with family and friends who always called because they loved chatting with her. She never met a stranger and was very Religious and attended St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Nederland, Texas. Joy’s biggest passion in life was her family; especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren who she loved and spoiled.
Survivors include her husband of sixty-five years, Leed J. Hardy, Jr. of Nederland; children, Gay Woods and her husband Richard of Port Neches, Jill McBride and her husband William of Clermont, Florida and Brett Hardy and his wife Kelly of Sour Lake, Texas; grandchildren, Chase Woods and his wife Ana, Kristin Mitchell and her husband John, Bill McBride, Aaron McBride, Dustin Hardy, Kassi Hardy and Kamryn Hardy; four great grandchildren.
Joy was preceded in death by her parents, Roland and Laurence Brown; sister, Agnes Comeaux; brother, Clayton Brown; her son, Jed Hardy and her grandson, Shane Hardy.
A visitation will take place from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 27, 2022, at Melancon Funeral Home in Nederland, Texas with a Rosary to follow at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 28, 2022, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church with Entombment to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves, Texas.
Serving as Pallbearers will be her grandchildren, Chase Woods, Kristin Mitchell, Bill McBride, Aaron McBride, Dustin Hardy, Kassi Hardy and Kamryn Hardy
