Joyce Corley Felps went to be with the Lord on November 25, 2017. She passed away peacefully in her sleep at home surrounded by loved ones. A long-time resident of Nederland, Texas, she was born June 15, 1933 in Nacogdoches, Texas to Robert Monroe Corley and Iler Eola Grigsby Corley. Joyce was the youngest of three children and she adored her two older brothers, J.W. and Raymond Corley. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Nederland.
Joyce married Ralph E. Felps in 1956 and together they raised two sons, Mark and Carl Felps. Joyce devoted herself to taking care of her family. She took care of her father after an extended illness and took care of her husband, Ralph, throughout his life. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Felps, son Mark Felps and brothers J.W. Corley and Raymond Corley.
She is survived by her son, Carl Felps and his wife Debra of Nederland, Texas, granddaughter Jasmine O’Brien and husband Ray of Clarksville, Tennessee, great-granddaughter Jordan O’Brien of Clarksville, Tennessee and family friends Larry and Irene Meguess of Slidell, Louisiana. She is also survived by extended Felps family members, Hebert family members and Corley family members. The family would like to thank Linda Howe for the love, care and friendship she showed Joyce over the past two years as well as the staff of Intrepid Home Health Care and Kindred Hospice.
Visitation will be Monday, November 27, 2017 at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland, Texas from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a graveside service on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at Oak Bluff Cemetery.
