Joyce Jackson

1932 ∼ 2020

Joyce Jackson, 88, of Nederland, Texas passed away peacefully with her husband by her side Saturday, September 12, 2020. Joyce was born September 6, 1932 in Gueydan, Louisiana to Eddie and Avela Hargrave. Joyce was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church and faithfully recited her rosary every day. Joyce was a cosmetologist for many years in the Mid-County area. She enjoyed crocheting, collecting angels and listening to Elvis music.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; great granddaughter, Samantha Jackson; sisters, Ruby Breaux and Martha Jean Mayes; brothers, Leroy Hargrave and Hulin Hargrave.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 67 years, John Jackson; sons, Steve Jackson and his wife, Robin of Groves, TX; Raymond “Bubba” Jackson of Hot Springs, AR; Jerry Lane Jackson and his wife, Lynda Kaye of Nederland, TX; 7 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; brother, Hebert “Tee” Hargrave.

A gathering of friends and family will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 15, 2020, at Melancon’s Funeral Home. A celebration of Ms. Joyce’s life will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 16, 2020, at Melancon’s Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Memory Garden’s Cemetery in Nederland, Texas.

She was a lady with a very large heart. You could always know Joyce was going to be watching her Golden Girls every night. She will be missed by her family but know that she is watching from above. Till we meet again Joyce.

My grandmother taught me a lot when I was little. Many of weekends I would stay with grandma and grandpa ,we would watch the elvis movies. I can say I loved watching movies with her. We would talk about everything. Love you grandma.
