Juan Banegas, 66, of Nederland, Texas passed away Monday, October 31, 2022, at The Medical Center of Southeast Texas in Port Arthur. Juan was born on November 24, 1955, in Concepción de Oriente, El Salvador to Celso Vanegas and Estanislada Moran.
Juan was a parishioner of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Port Arthur. Juan was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a positive person with a giving heart. Juan enjoyed listening to music and watching nature and wildlife documentaries. He had a green thumb for growing his own vegetables and fruit. Juan loved telling jokes and stories to his family and friends.
Juan was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Clemente Vanegas, Julian Vanegas and Lidia Vanegas.
Those left behind to cherish Juan’s memory are his loving wife of thirty years, Monica Cristina Banegas of Nederland, Texas; children, Adita Vanegas, Arely Banegas, Ferbin Vanegas, Juan Vanegas, Tania Banegas and William Castillo; fifteen grandchildren; siblings, Gloria Vanegas, Alejandro Vanegas, Maria Vanegas, Juana Vanegas, Liduvina Vanegas and Reinaldo Vanegas.
Serving as pallbearers include William Castillo, Juan Vanegas, Ferbin Vanegas, Fabian Ramos, Romel Ramos and Walter Ramos.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary to be recited at 6:00 p.m., Monday, November 7, 2022, at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 8, 2022, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Port Arthur. Rite of Committal will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves.

Juan Banegas, de 66 años, de Nederland, Texas, falleció el lunes 31 de octubre de 2022 en el Centro Médico del Sureste de Texas en Port Arthur. Juan nació el 24 de noviembre de 1955 en Concepción de Oriente, El Salvador, hijo de Celso Vanegas y Estanislada Moran.
Juan era feligrés de la Iglesia Católica de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe en Port Arthur. Juan fue un esposo, padre y abuelo amoroso. Era una persona positiva con un corazón generoso. A Juan le gustaba escuchar música y ver documentales sobre la naturaleza y la vida silvestre. Tenía un pulgar verde para cultivar sus propias verduras y frutas. A Juan le encantaba contar chistes e historias a su familia y amigos.
Juan fue precedido en la muerte por sus padres; hermanos, Clemente Vanegas, Julián Vanegas y Lidia Vanegas.
