Juanita Brown, 88, of Nederland, passed away peacefully in her home on Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2021. Juanita was born Feb. 21, 1933, in Sabine, Texas to Carlton & Elsie Adamson. Juanita was a 1950 graduate of Nederland High School. She worked in retail prior to a career in education at Nederland Independent School District where she retired after 22 years of service as a teacher’s aide.
Juanita is preceded in death by her parents, William Carlton Adamson and Elsie Ealer Bumstead Adamson; husband, Otis Hilton Brown; and sisters, Jo Evelyn Phillips and Nancy Haight; and nephew, James Scott.
Those left behind to cherish Juanita’s memory are her son, Henry Brown; goddaughter, Kelly Grogan; god grandchildren, Ty’rion Grogan and My’rrh Grogan; nieces, Donna Sanders, Beverly Edmundson, and Pattilyn Perkins; nephew, Joe David Scott; and several great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.
Juanita was a member of First Baptist Church of Nederland as were her parents and grandparents. She served as a Bible study teacher for 3-year olds, sang in The Silvertones Senior Adult Choir, and served on the Benevolence Committee providing assistance to those with financial hardships.

A gathering of family and friends will be Thursday, Nov. 18, 2021, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., with the funeral to begin at 1 p.m., at First Baptist Church in Nederland. Interment will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches.
