Juanita Verlene "Granny" Felps, 90, of Groves, Texas passed away Thursday, August 12, 2021 at her home.

Juanita was born February 28, 1931 in Port Arthur, Texas to James Hicks and Eunice Flower Hicks. She was a lifelong resident of this area and was known as "Granny" to everyone.

Visitation for family and friends will begin at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, August 19, 2021 at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves with a memorial service to follow at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend David Logan officiating.

Juanita was preceded in death by her daughter, Vickie Felps, sons, James Kelly Felps and Kyle Ray Felps, and 3 sisters.

Surviving relatives include her daughters, Verlene Felps of Port Arthur, Texas and Valerie Tibedeaux and husband Joe of Kirbyville, Texas; sons, Kris Felps and wife Mary and Kevin Felps and wife Sheila all of Groves, Texas; 12 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and one more on the way.

The family would like to invite everyone to join for a gathering following the services at 2919 Oleander Groves, Texas 77619.

My deepest sympathy. Prayers for the family. I remember her grabbing my hair as I stormed out of the house after hearing my grandmother died. She hugged me and told me everything would be alright. First hug she ever gave me.

Nita was one of the sweetest ladies ever! I remember spend time at her house in Groves every time I visited with my sister Helen Felps! She always had a jar of dill pickles! I am sad for you guys but rejoicing in the fact that she lived to be 90 and that she is now with Jesus! What an amazing lady!! Much love Cindy (Helen's little sister).
