Jules Joseph "JJ" Hebert Jr.

Jules J. “J.J.” Hebert, Jr., age 66, passed away on Saturday, July 6, 2013 at his home in Lumberton. He was born in Port Arthur on March 3, 1947 to the late Jules Joseph Hebert, Sr. and Irma Hyars Hebert. Jules, a lifelong resident of Southeast Texas, was a graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School in Port Arthur and Lamar University. He proudly served in the U. S. Army for three years overseas and served 20 years in the National Guard and was a sergeant in the 81st Artillery, Battery D, 1st Battalion.
He was employed with Texaco for 36 years as a machinist and retired in March of 2004. JJ was a Roman Catholic and was a good man who loved his family. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. JJ was an amateur Ham radio operator and an avid motorcycle rider.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at Melancon’s Funeral Home, 1605 Avenue H, Nederland, with interment to follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Nederland. A gathering of the family and friends will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at the funeral home.
JJ is survived by his loving wife of 47-1/2 years, Ima Lee Hebert of Lumberton; daughters, Michelle Young of Beaumont and Kimberly Myers of Nederland; grandchildren, Angel Tomplait, Peyton Myers and Mason Myers; brothers, Gary Hebert of Dallas and Michael Hebert of Port Arthur and sister, Sheryl Bower of Groves. He is preceded in death by his parents and numerous aunts and uncles.
