Julian "Clayton" Salter, Jr., 86 of Port Arthur, Texas passed away Friday May 6th, 2016 at Rose Place in Port Arthur, Texas. He was born October 12th, 1929 to Julian C. Salter and Hilda Gandy Salter. Clayton was a native Port Arthurian and a member of the United Methodist Temple. He retired as the owner of Julian Salter Company insurance agency after 30 years of service. He was a faithful member of the Port Arthur Rotary club and the Methodist's Men's group. Clayton proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War Conflict. Clayton was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Elsie Gautreaux Salter and his grandson SSgt. Jacob Woo. He is survived by his daughter, Stacey Rita Talbert and husband, Bill of Houston; two sons, Stuart Neil Salter and wife, Patti of Port Arthur, and Julian Clayton "Clay" Salter, III and wife, Denise of Groves; grandchildren Zachary Woo, Carrie Beth Woo, Rachal Salter Nettune, Nathan Talbert, Kate Talbert, Shannon Meerscheidt, and Sean Duffy; great-grandchildren, Gianna, Anne Frances and Henry Nettune; Mia and Daniel Meerscheidt, and Mao Duffy. Family members also include Lindsey Woo and Kelsey Miller. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m., Friday, May 13th, 2016 at Levingston Funeral Homes in Groves with Reverend Guy Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday evening from 5:00- 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The family asks that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the United Methodist Temple.

I am so sorry to hear of Mr. Salter's passing. I know he will be deeply missed by the Port Arthur community, where he worked and served for so many years. Heartfelt condolences to Stacey, Stuart and Clay from the Hathaway family.

Julian was always a kind and gentle man. He was always professional and ethical. He always represented himself as to what we all want to become. Julian Salter will be missed.

I loved this man like he was my family. I'm sure gonna miss him and his wise crack jokes. He was a good man with a very big heart and I'm so glad I was blessed to know him and his family. My deepest condolences to Stacey, Stuart and Clay.
