Julius Ray Poole, 94, of Port Arthur, Texas passed away Wednesday, November 18, 2015 at Mid Jefferson Extended Care. Ray was born June 13, 1921 in Starks, Louisiana to Wade and Lovie Poole. He was a resident of Port Arthur for 69 years and member of St. James Catholic Church. He retired after 38 years of service from Gulf States Utilities as a meter foreman. He was a veteran and proudly served in the U. S. Navy during World War II. Ray was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jimmie Poole; two sisters, Erma Dunshie and Adelia Price. Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Bernice Poole of Port Arthur, TX; daughter, Rhonda Poole of Port Arthur, TX; son, Ronald Poole of Spring, TX; two sisters, Laverne Cloteaux and Eva Oglesbee both of Beaumont, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, November 20, 2015 from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at noon on Saturday, November 21, 2015 at St. James Catholic Church in Port Arthur with Reverend David Edwards officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves.

My deepest sympathies on the passing of Mr. Poole. He will be remembered as one of the "GREAT" generation, and people like this will not come again. May God speed him on to his place in Christ's kingdom with his father where there are no more worldly cares!

Ray was one of the best men I have every met in life. He was so loved at work by all of the bosses and workers. Ray never met a stranger and would give his shirt off is back if you ask. This world needs a lot more Ray Poole in it. He will be truly mist by all that knew him. Rest in peace Mr. Ray Poole.
