Kate Lee Smith

1926 ∼ 2022

Kate Lee Smith, 95, of Nederland, Texas, passed away Wednesday, January 26, 2022. Kate was born on February 8, 1926 in Deweyville, Texas to the late Lee and Orneva Weatherly. She is a lifelong believer of the Pentecostal Faith. Kate was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great-grandmother, and friend to many.

Kate loved to bake and cook. Her food was a real treat for all. She always had a huge meal prepared every Sunday for her family to gather. Anyone who ever met Kate knows she was the most selfless, giving and Godly woman you would ever meet. She was a devout Pentecostal and attended all services whenever it was possible. She loved Jesus with all of her heart. What an example she was! Kate will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She was a homemaker for over 75 years.

Kate is survived by her sister Betty Patterson of Arlington, Texas; grandchildren Karla Knight of Nederland, Texas; Mistee Bouget and husband Tommy of Orange, Texas; Stacia Robles and husband Rudy of Bay City, Texas; great grandchildren, Keeli Knight, Kati Knight, Kodi Bryant, Blake Bouget, Tyler Bouget, Joseph Ohlau, Lyndsey Marek and Justin Marek; Great-great grandchildren, Kaelan Bos, Silas Romero, Etta Romero, Khloe Ellerbee, Easton Ellerbee, Blakely Bouget, Seshyn Bouget and numerous other loving family members.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Henry Smith, daughter Debbie Burton, son Ronnie Smith and granddaughter Kathy Ohlau.

A celebration of life for Kate will be held at the graveside at Oak Bluff Cemetery in Port Neches Saturday January 29th at 3:00 PM under direction of Melancon’s Funeral Home Nederland.

Grandma Kate used to live with my sweet grandma Karla and everyday she would wake up early and change the temperature of the house she did it so much we had to put a lock on it and when me and my brother Easton woke up she would also be there with a cookie love you grandma Kate rest in peace
