Katherine Ann Kroutter Johnson, 84, of Port Neches went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, July 9, 2016 at her residence, surrounded by her children. She was born September 3, 1931 in New Orleans, Louisiana to the late William Thomas Kroutter and Hilda Mary Taylor. Katherine attended Ursuline Academy in New Orleans, Louisiana. She was a longtime member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Community in Port Neches. She retired from Walmart in Nederland after 20 years of dedicated service. Katherine was an avid Red Hatter in the Claret Chapeaux Chapter. She loved gardening, traveling, cruising, and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
A mass of Christian burial will be held Tuesday July 12 at 2 p.m. at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Nederland with Reverend Shane Baxter officiating. Interment to follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches, Texas, under the direction of Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland. A gathering of the family will be held at the funeral home from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with a rosary to follow.
Katherine is preceded in death by her parents, the father of her children Carl F. Johnson, Jr., and her baby daughter, Kristen Johnson. She is survived by her children, Kathleen Johnson Paschal and husband Al of Bedford, TX, Karen Johnson McGraw and husband Leon of Spring, TX, Carla Johnson Swanzy and husband Russell of New Orleans, LA, Carl F. Johnson, III and wife Sheila of Austin, TX, Chris K. Johnson and wife Pam of Port Neches, TX, and Katherine E. Johnson Wright and husband David of Double Oak, TX. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
