Kathleen Mudd Simmons, 79, of Nederland, passed away on Thursday, January 04, 2018, at her residence. Kathleen was born on August 10, 1938, to the late Rainey Mudd and Dena deVries Mudd in Nederland, Texas. Kathleen was an Administrative Assistant at Huntsman when she retired in 2000. She was a member at First Methodist Church of Nederland. Kathleen graduated from Nederland High School in 1956 and earned a secretarial science degree from Lamar Tech. She worked at Magnolia Petroleum Company and with the Nederland School District before beginning her career at Neches Butane, Texaco Chemical and Huntsman. Kathleen was an avid dog lover and especially loved her last dog “Ginger”, who passed away in December, 2017. Kat was also an avid and talented bridge player and played in several local bridge groups over many years.
Those left to cherish her memories are her loving husband of 34 years, Jerry Simmons of Nederland; daughter, Cindi Cooley and husband, John of Woodville; grandsons, Jace Cooley of El Lago, TX and Bryce Cooley of Nacogdoches, TX. She is preceded in death by her parents.
There will be a gathering of family and friends on Monday, January 8, 2018, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. with the service to begin at 1:00 p.m. at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland. The interment will be at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches.
