Kay Ely Melancon, 86, of Nederland, Texas passed away Saturday, June 24, 2023, at Cascades at Senior Rehab inn Port Arthur, Texas. Kay was born on April 22, 1937, in Franklin, Pennsylvania to Elmer and Edith Ely.
Kay was a graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School and a member of the Port Arthur Red Hussar Drum and Bugle Corps. She also headed her class reunion for over thirty years and in junior high she was involved in the Florence Coleman School of Dancing for eleven years and a cheerleader in 1951. Kay had many friends that she cared for. She also had a love for yorkies.
Kay was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer W. Ely and Edith Ely; spouse, Charles A. Melancon; sons, Jayde (Jaco) Melancon and Zayne Melancon; brother, John Ely.
Those left to cherish Kay’s memory include her daughter-in-law, Rhonda Melancon of Nederland; grandchildren, Cody and Jayde Melancon; and great granddaughter, Ava Moody.
A graveside service for Ms. Kay Melancon will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 27, 2023, at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches, Texas. Services are under the direction of Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland.
