Kayla Renee Adaway, a cherished mother, daughter, sister, and friend, passed away on September 6, 2025, in Port Neches, Texas. Born on November 29, 1985, in Galveston, Texas, she graced this world with her presence for nearly four decades, leaving behind a legacy of love and kindness.
Kayla dedicated her professional life to O'Reilly Auto Parts, where she served as a parts delivery specialist in Nederland, Texas. Her commitment to her work exemplified her strong character and work ethic.
She is survived by her loving family, including her father, Leroy Adaway and wife Kathy of Zavalla, Texas, and her mother, Sandra Adaway of Port Neches, Texas. She was a devoted mother to her daughters, Khloe Montalvo and Kallie Montalvo, and her son, Kason Montalvo, all of Port Neches. Kayla was also a beloved sister to her brothers, Chris DeJean and wife Michelle of Groves, and Chad Adaway and wife April of Port Neches, as well as her sister, Alysia Mitchamore and husband Derrick of Angelton, Texas. She will be fondly remembered by her nieces, Chasity Mitchamore, Kelsie Mitchamore, and Taryn DeJean, and her nephews, Tyler DeJean, Kyras Mitchamore, and Cody Moss. A great niece, Raelynn Moss, will carry forth her memory in the hearts of her family.
In addition to her surviving family, Kayla was preceded in death by her brother, Erik Adaway, and both sets of grandparents, whose absence she felt deeply.
Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of Kayla on September 10, 2025. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, followed by a funeral service beginning at 6:00 PM. Both events will take place at Melancon Levingston Funeral Home, 5601 39th St, Groves, Texas 77619.
Kayla's spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. She embodied the essence of family and friendship, and her memory will be cherished forever.
