Kelly Romero, a devoted husband, father, brother, and lifelong friend, passed away peacefully on April 20, 2026 in Lumberton, Texas. Born on January 8, 1950, in New Iberia, Louisiana, Kelly’s journey through life was marked by devotion to his family and an appreciation for the simple joys that enriched his days.

Kelly attended Thomas Jefferson High School until 1969 and furthered his education at Lamar in the carpenter’s apprentice program. He used his carpentry skills throughout his entire career and was always willing to lend a hand to others. Though he began his life in Port Arthur, Kelly called Port Neches home for 30 years. He and Debbie then moved to Crystal Beach after retiring. Here they met many dear friends. He enjoyed fishing and crabbing. Kelly was a lover of golf and a loyal follower of the Astros and had great affection for driving his antique Model A Ford. Above all he valued the time spent with his family and friends.

Surviving him is his devoted wife of 53 years, Debbie Romero, who stood faithfully by his side through all seasons of their lives. Kelly also leaves behind two sons who were the pride and joy of his life, Casey Romero and his wife, Rachel, and Nicholas Romero. Kelly is further survived by his sisters, Mary Ann Borel and her husband, Vernon; Judy Romero; Jolene Nelson and her husband, Gerald; and Rosalind Dunkleberger and her husband, Blane.

Kelly was preceded in death by his parents, Ollie Joseph Romero and Mabel Romero.

A memorial gathering will be held on April 27, 2026, commencing at 10:00 AM, followed by a celebration of life at 11:00 AM, both at the Melancon Levingston Funeral Home located at 1605 Avenue H in Nederland, Texas. These services will offer an opportunity for family, friends, and all whose lives Kelly touched to come together in remembrance and gratitude.

As we remember Kelly Romero, we honor the life he lived. He will be deeply missed, yet his spirit remains alive in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
