Ken David LaGrappe, passed away on Sunday, July 9, 2023.
Ken was born on February 29, 1964, in Port Arthur, Texas to Carol Ann LaGrange LaGrappe and Mark Harvey LaGrappe. He attended Sam Houston Elementary, Edison Middle School and graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1982 where he played football for the Yellow Jackets. Ken attended St. Charles Catholic Church in Nederland where he participated in the ACTS retreat. He was a salesman for Total Care and also helped his brother Chad with his company, Captain Grappo’s in Port Arthur. Ken enjoyed sports, music and also being around water such as going to the beach or the lake. He was known as a hard worker but mostly he was known for loving his family very much. Ken adored his children and grandchildren who referred to him as “Keke”, a name given to him as a young child. He enjoyed being around his children and grandchildren and loved his nieces and nephews very much often including them in as much as he could such as vacations and family get-togethers. Ken came from a big family where he had numerous cousins who also loved him dearly. Ken was a special person who enjoyed being around people very much; he never met a stranger and was a gracious and kind person.
Survivors include his wife of thirty-six years, Connie Nicholas LaGrappe of Nederland; his children; son, Cameron LaGrappe and his fiancée Mishell Houston both of Nederland and his daughter, Karlee LaGrappe of Austin, Texas; siblings, Karen Daigle and her husband Rod of Austin, Jan Moore and her husband Kenny of Houston, Mike LaGrappe and his wife Cindy of Nederland, Jeff LaGrappe and his wife Tammy of Groves, Chad LaGrappe of Beaumont and Craig LaGrappe and his wife Robyn of Spring; grandchildren, Nayvie “Bean” Hiner, Jonah Hiner and Mollie LaGrappe; numerous nieces and nephews, David Lee Daigle, Kristen Baxter, Tyler LaGrappe, Tara Acevedo, Tana Montalvo, Kirsti LaGrappe, Katlyn LaGrappe, Mackenzie LaGrappe, Avery LaGrappe, Chloe LaGrappe, Gavin LaGrappe, Kayla Thramer, Alaina Byars, sister-in-law, Nancy Byars and her husband Alan Byars of Houston; numerous great nieces and nephews; cousins and other family members who loved him dearly.
A gathering of family and friends will take place from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Saturday, July 15, 2023, at Melancon Funeral Home in Nederland. A Rosary will be recited at 12:30 Saturday, July 15, 2023 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Nederland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Saturday St. Charles Catholic Church. Private Cremation services will be held at a later date.
Serving as Pallbearers will be David Lee Daigle, Tyler LaGrappe, Richie Wingard, Colten Montalvo, Josh Montalvo and Austin Jones. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jonathan Rubio and Alan Byars.
