Kenneth E. Browning, 66, of Nederland, Texas passed away Thursday, December 24, 2015 in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. Kenneth was born September 4, 1949 in Montgomery, Alabama to Cecil Earl Browning and Dorothy Blanche Fowler Browning. He was a lifelong area resident and retired from the Port Arthur Police Department after many years of service, and then worked for the Southeast Texas Regional Planning Commission. Kenneth was a member of Groves Masonic Lodge #1315 and was a 32 degree Mason. He was also a member of the Scottish Rite, and Mid-County Shrine Club. Survivors include his loving wife of 44 years, Janis Ploet Browning of Nederland, TX; sister, Elaine Pair and her husband Terry of Pflugerville, TX; nephews, Kenneth Pair and Tracy Pair; and Godchild, Natalie Rhodes. A visitation for family and friends will begin at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 31, 2015 at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves followed by a memorial service at 12 noon.

Kenneth is a special family member of ours: Best man, Godfather, Fishing partner, vacation buddy, friend, confidante, and everything else in between. I loved his jovial laugh. He never missed a dance performance of his Goddaughter's. Always in our hearts!

I was very sorry to learn of the passing of Kenneth Browning. I have known him for 25 years, and it was an honor to have served with him at the Port Arthur Polie Department. I learned a lot from his example, and he will never be forgotten. My thoughts and prayers go to his family. RIP, Sarge.
