Kirby "Doc" King, Jr., 84, of Port Neches, Texas died Monday, March 10, 2014 at The Medical Center of Southeast Texas. Kirby was born April 25, 1929 in Tupelo, Mississippi to Kirby King, Sr. and Lavelle Winders King. He was a 50 year resident of this area and a retired Foreman at Dupont Beaumont with 30 years of service. Kirby was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Nederland where he served as a Deacon. He was also a member of Nederland Masonic Lodge # 1368 and a US Coast Guard Veteran serving from 1951 1953. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 13, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Levingston Funeral Home in Port Neches with Rev. Michael Halliburton officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens. Visitation for family and friends will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at the funeral home. He is preceded in death by his wife, Shirley King and son-in-law, Steve Lewis. Surviving relatives include his daughters, Katherine King Lewis of Port Neches, Texas; Marion Singleton and husband Thad of Orange, Texas; Rhonda Gibbs and husband Steve of Port Neches, Texas; sons, Doyle W. King and wife Donna of Fannett, Texas; Robert L. King and wife Melissa of Port Neches, Texas; sister, Coleen Lee and husband E. J. of Nederland, Texas; brother, Gary King and wife Pam of Bridge City, Texas; 8 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
