Kristopher “Kris” Porter, 42, of Nederland passed away October 18, 2019. He was employed as a cabinet maker for Superior Cabinetry for 5 years and also was a senior director of GBO. Kris was strong willed and always had a positive attitude and a sense of humor. Kris liked fishing and hunting and also body building. Kris was a leader, had a infectious smile and loved to travel.

Kris is survived by his dad, Larry “Buddy” Porter and his wife Debbie of Winnie; his mother, Rosemary Smith and her husband Bob of Warren; his daughter, Morghan Porter, and his son Derek Porter; the mother of his children, Elsa Porter; his brother, Steven Newman and his wife Kelley of Mount Belvieu; his sisters, Shelli Myers and her husband Chris of Brookeland, Danyelle Junot and her husband Josh of Nederland, Rebecca Porter of Griffin, Georgia, and Jessica Whittington and her husband Johno of Vidor. Also survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews, cousins, and many close friends including his “GBO Family”. Kris is preceded in death by his grandparents, Bill and Merle Silkwood, and Margie and Zack Porter.

A gathering of the family and friends will begin at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 23, 2019 with his Memorial Service to follow at 2:00 p.m. at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland with Dr. Jason Burden officiating.

Kris will be loved, and missed by all who knew him.
