L.B. Hanks, 88, of Port Neches, Texas passed away at home with his loving family
at his side.
L.B. was born on June 1, 1935, in Colmesneil, Texas to Alice Woodward Hanks and
Louis B. Hanks. He graduated from Colmesneil High School in 1955 and served in
the United States Army. L.B. had lived in Port Neches with his wife Joyce of fortyfour years and was retired from AT&T. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Port Neches and an active member of the First Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, as well as on many church committees, he also taught Bible study classes and traveled to Mexico and other locations on various mission trips. L.B. and Joyce loved their church very much. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and always had a garden; but his main joy was his family, especially his seven grandchildren who he adored and loved spending time with.
L.B. is survived by his wife Joyce Hanks of Port Neches; three children, Kellye Badon and husband Ty of Beaumont, Kim Freeman and husband Ernest of Houston and Kyle and wife Mendi of Port Arthur; grandchildren, Nicholas Badon of Winnie, Joyce Catherine Badon a student in Savanah, GA., Madeline Freeman of New York, Matthew Freeman of Houston, Gracie Freeman a student in Oxford, MS, Dustin Hanks of Round Rock, and Austin Hanks of Port Neches.
A gathering of Family and Friends will take place from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
Monday, October 9, at Melancon-Levingston Funeral Home in Port Neches.
Services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 10, at First Baptist
Church in Port Neches. Graveside services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday
at Ebenezer Cemetery in Colmesneil, Texas under the direction of Melancon Levingston Funeral Home in Port Neches.
Serving as Pallbearers will be Dustin Hanks, Austin Hanks, Matthew Freeman,
Nicholas Badon, James Powell, Doyle Cowart Jr., and Vance Cowart.
Memorial Contributions can be made to the First Baptist Church in Port Neches.
