Larry was one of the good guys. The Good Lord put him on this earth to serve as an example for the rest of us. He always managed to keep a positive attitude, no matter what challenges he faced. Larry and I stayed in touch on Facebook in recent years and I always looked forward to hearing from him. Kind of daunting to think about the number of Port Arthur News sports writers I had the pleasure of working with who have passed: Rick Anderson, John Curylo, Harold Beeson, John DeVillier and Howard Roden. Wonderful memories about all of them and the unique talents they displayed writing for the best little big-time sports staff you could imagine. However, I don't think any of us loved covering sports than Larry Robert Bodin. Rest in peace.

Mr. Bodin was a great guy & awesome sports writer. He covered local youth sports with just as much passion & dedication to the local kids as the pro guys. R.I.P. Larry you will be missed sir.

To the family: Larry was a good friend during those years when we thought we would live forever. Those years when we should have been studying harder; but playing fast pitch softball on the old El Patio team at Lakeshore in Port Arthur was the biggest thing in our lives. Larry played centerfield and I was in leftfield. He had the great arm and big bat; but much greater, he had such class and respect for all, teammates, opponents, umpires. Of all the players I have played with through the years, Larry was one of the very best in this regard. For us, he was the big man on the field. I am sorry for your great loss and pray for comfort and strength. Edward Richey
