Larry G. Sheppard

1935 ∼ 2025

Larry G. Sheppard, a cherished member of the Port Neches and Groves communities, passed away peacefully on December 9, 2025, at the age of 90. Born on October 3, 1935, in Port Arthur, Texas, Larry lived a life filled with dedication, service, and love for his family.

Professionally, Larry served as a Payroll Clerk at Gulf/Chevron Refinery in Port Arthur, where he was known for his steadfast work ethic and loyalty. His contributions extended beyond his professional life, as he was a proud member of the National Guard, served as a little league baseball coach for 5 years, and was an active member of First United Methodist Church of Groves for 57 years.

Larry had a passion for yard work, finding joy and solace in cultivating the beauty of nature around him. He embraced every opportunity to engage in this fulfilling hobby, and it became a reflection of his nurturing spirit. He was also a successful self-taught investor and money manager, spending countless hours researching, trading, and investing for his family’s future, and passing along his knowledge to others.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 67 years, Pat Sheppard, his beloved daughter, Stacey Arnold of Georgetown, Texas, and his son, Scott Sheppard and wife Donna of Huntsville, Texas. He took immense pride in his grandchildren, Olivia Arnold, Kellen Arnold and wife Ashley, Spencer Sheppard and fiancé Faith Rawls, Tyler Sheppard, and Walker Sheppard, who brought immeasurable joy and pride into his life. Larry is reunited in rest with his dear family members who have passed before him: his parents Milton D. and Ada Mae Sheppard, and siblings Marco Sheppard, Sybil Arnaud, Pat Broussard, and Edyth Ramsey.

Visitation will be held on December 14, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Melancon Levingston Funeral Home, 2001 Nall St., Port Neches, Texas. A funeral service will commence on December 15, 2025, at 11:00 AM, also at Melancon Levingston Funeral Home, concluding with a burial at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches, Texas.

Larry G. Sheppard will be deeply missed, remembered for his loving nature, willingness to help others, unyielding spirit, and the profound impact he had on those around him. His legacy will continue to thrive in the hearts of his family and friends, who will forever cherish the memories they created together.

Memorial contributions may be sent to First United Methodist Church of Groves, 6501 Washington, Groves, Texas, 77619.
