Larry Gene Tomplait, 83, of Port Acres, Texas passed away on Sunday, March 24, 2024, at his residence in Port Acres with his loving family at his side.  

Larry was born on February 28, 1941, in Port Arthur, Texas to Eunice Vice Tomplait and Vencia Joseph Tomplait.  He was a member of St. Theresa, the Little Flower of Jesus Catholic Church in Port Acres where he donated his time to the church by helping maintain the grass.  Larry was a former member of the Knights of Columbus in Port Acres. He retired from Ameripol Synpol in Port Neches, where he worked as a pipefitter.  He was a member of Local #195 in Nederland. Larry served his country as a member of the Texas National Guard for 9 years. He enjoyed cooking, gardening, camping and traveling across the United States.  Larry also enjoyed square dancing with the love of his life, his wife Mary.  Most of all, Larry loved his family; especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren who he loved to spoil.  He was a wonderful person who will be missed dearly.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Oneeta Tomplait of Port Acres; his children, Sherry Jackson of Port Acres; Terry

Wuenschel and her husband Keith of Fannett, Susan Garcia and her husband Eric of Port Acres; grandchildren, Brittany Hilgemeier, Shelby Giganti and husband Michael, Billy Jackson, Jr. and wife Bailey, Wade Wuenschel, Rebecca Robertson and husband Quade, Megan Baird and husband Samuel, Alyssa Garcia and her fiancé Braelyn Collier, Kayla Sherley and her fiancé Bryce Tubbs; six great grandchildren, Emily, Olivia, Jensen, Liam, Adler, Ivy and another great grandchild on the way; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Vencia and Eunice Tomplait; his brothers, Lee Roy Tomplait, Curtis Tomplait and James Tomplait, Sr. and his faithful companion, Lucky Boy.

A gathering of family and friends will take place from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at Melancon-Levingston Funeral Home in Nederland, Texas with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at the St. Theresa, the Little Flower of Jesus Catholic Church in Port Acres with burial to follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches, Texas.  

Pallbearers will be James Tomplait, Jr., John Tomplait, Vince Tomplait, Shawn Hare, Quade Robertson and Samuel Baird.  Honorary Pallbearers will be Keith Wuenschel, Eric Garcia, Billy Jackson, Jr., Wade Wuenschel and Michael Tomplait.
