Leo was a gentle soul who was always quick with humor and a comeback phrase. It didn't surprise me at all when he became a pastor, I always felt he should have been a chaplain in the Air Force instead of a crew dog. He was a dear friend and neighbor for many years. My heart breaks for Vicky and her children! Sending hugs, love and many prayers during this difficult time :(. Sincerely, Mary Drumheller (Brittany and Matt)

Vicky and family. I am so sorry to hear of Leo's passing today. I haven't talked to him since I ran into him in Las Vegas during one of his last TDYs. He was a good friend, and I should have been a better one to him in maintaining contact. May God comfort you, we are praying for all of you. Jim Rabb

I had the great privilege to have served with and for Leo during his Air Force career. He officiated my Air Force retirement as well. His leadership, kindness, strength and perseverance made him a role model and friend. My thoughts and prayers are with his family. May you take solace in knowing God has called him Home and he will be with you always. Teresa Sanchez

The Final Salute “Brothers in Arms”, Military men and women down through the centuries, have traditionally exchanged “Hand Salutes” as a sign of recognition and as a way to render courtesy and respect one to another. This “Hand Salute” is the last that we shall render to Lathan Leo Hill , our “Brother-in-Arms”. To his family it symbolizes the love and respect that we have for Leo. And to Leo it is rendered as a symbol of honor and gratitude to thank him for the devoted and selfless service he rendered to his country while serving in the U.S. Air Force. Leo, we commend you for your honorable service. You are a true patriot, who served with honor and distinction. You upheld the finest qualities of an American patriot warrior: courage, commitment, Generosity, sacrifice, love and devotion to family and country. You were a true friend. We bid you a sad farewell. You will be dearly missed from among our ranks. Be at Ease. Rest in Peace. On behalf of myself, all the military veteran Legionnaires of the Meuli * Kelean * Kramer * Dannenberg Post 77 of the American Legion and Chippewa Falls Patriotic Council from Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, we extend our sympathies and our condolences to Leo's family and loved ones. So sorry to hear of his passing. Our hearts and prayers go out to your family and Triangle Baptist Church. It is hard on a church to lose a pastor, and even harder on a family with children. Keep your focus on God, and he will guide you through.
