Latretta Jo Walker, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on March 4, 2025, in Beaumont, Texas, at the age of 90. Born on April 1,1934, in Ryan, Oklahoma, she lived a life filled with love, commitment, and strength.
A proud 1952 alumna of Port Neches-Groves High School, Latretta was an original lndianette, helping to name the drill team and establish a legacy that would endure for generations. She held this honor close to her heart for over 70 years, attending reunions and eagerly dancing on the field with alumni whenever she had the chance. The Indianettes remained a lifelong passion, a testament to her deep-rooted dedication to tradition and community.
Latretta had a distinguished career as a manager with Southwestern Bell, where she exhibited remarkable leadership, professionalism, and care for her colleagues. Her strong work ethic continued after retirement with a successful l0-year career as a real estate agent, during which she helped countless families find their forever homes. Her commitment to excellence left a lasting impact on those who had the privilege of working alongside her. Above all, Latretta was devoted to her family. She is survived by her loving brothers Jim Young and wife Sammie, Bob Young and wife Patty, and Paul Young and wife Debbie; her daughter-in-law, Beth Terrell; and her beloved great-granddaughter, Kallee Jo Fox. she is also survived by numerous nieces and nephew from Georgia. Family was a great source of joy for Latretta, and she nurtured these bonds throughout her life.
She now joins in eternal rest her father, Lewis Randolph Young; her mother, Ann Elizabeth Curry; her husband, Charles Alton Walker; her son, Jeffrey Lane Terrell; and her grandchildren, Jeffrey Charles Terrell and Jennifer Jo Terrell. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Joe Young, and sister, Sharon Young.
A visitation will be held on March 15 from 10:00 AM to 11 :00 AM, followed by a funeral service at 11:00AM, at Melancon Levingston Funeral Home,
Latretta will be remembered for her unwavering spirit, kind heart, and the loving memories she created with those around her. Her legacy of compassion, dedication, and joy will continue to inspire all who knew her.
