Lawrence Ray Wilson, 86, of Nederland, Texas passed away on October 22, 2021 at his home in Nederland. He was born on January 11, 1935 to the late Lawrence Philip Wilson and Thelma Green Wilson.
Lawrence was a hardworking man that loved and provided for his family. He went to work straight out of high school and spent 41 years working for Texaco Refinery where he retired. Lawrence enjoyed deer hunting, camping, and watching old western shows. He would often times spend hours in the garage or on the front porch listening to music and watching the world go by. Lawrence was always involved with his family. He was a loving husband, father, “Pawpaw”, and great “Pawpaw”. Lawrence was a kind and giving person that will be missed by all who knew him.
Those left behind to cherish Lawrence’s memory are his loving wife of 66 years, Monica Reeves Wilson; daughters, Paula M. Rich, Rhonda M. Wilson and John Steen; grandchildren, Justin Ray Thomas and his wife, Melissa, Phillip Douglas Thomas and his wife, Gillian Shapiro, Jennifer Thomas LaFleur, and her husband, Brandon, Leslie P. Robinson; 8 great grandchildren; and numerous loving nieces and nephews. Lawrence is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Sandra Wilson; grandson, Slayton Rich; brother, Travis Elvin Wilson; sisters, Francis Ellen Shirley, Rose Edna Harper; and brother-in-law, Rodney Dale Reeves.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland, Texas on Wednesday, October 27, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. A graveside funeral service for Lawrence will be held at 2:00p.m. on Thursday, October 28, 2021 at Shiloh Cemetery in DeRidder, LA.
