Leda Bess Beth CuccioMarch 18, 1928January 14, 2013Is preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Vincent Charles Cuccio parents, Louis and Essie Melancon brother, Burkin and sister, Marilyn. She is survived by four children and their spouses: Linda and John Duplissey, Mikie and Ray Abshire, Vincent and Jane Cuccio, and James and Terri Cuccio. Additionally, she is survived by 12 grandchildren, 12 greatgrandchildren, and two siblings, L.C. Melancon, Jr. and Betty Simar.Leda Bess was a vibrant, fun, witted, compassionate, understanding, encouraging, devoted, loving wife, mother, and grandmother. A true matriarch, she had an undeniable faith in family and God. She was a force to be reckoned with, with a fierce attitude and a wit hard to be matched. She met and married her husband Vince in 1944. They met on Halloween and married on December 23 of that year. Her father, who knew her well, had a singular sentiment to express to Vince on the day he asked for his daughters hand, a quote from him that has lasted through generations and allows even his greatgreat grandchildren to hear his voice, Well, Vince, You sure you can handle her. She is HELL ON WHEELS. You let me know if you can use some help. That was Leda in a word, enjoying every moment of her life with those she loved and the husband she adored. Visitation will be held from 5:008:00 p.m. with a rosary at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at Melancons Funeral Home in Nederland, Texas. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 12:00, noon, on Thursday, January 17, 2013 at St. James Catholic Church in Port Arthur, Texas, Father Sinclair Oubre celebrant. Interment will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches. Serving as Pallbearers will be grandsons, Jimmy and Vince Duplissey, Gabe and Dean Abshire, Bradley and Joshua Cuccio and greatgrandsons, Matthew Duplissey and Riley Abshire. Special thanks to Mrs. Ledas amazing caregivers and friends: Pandora, Lanett, Chrystal, and Irma. They have been her angels over these last few years helping the family to enrich the quality of her life. In lieu of flowers, a contribution can be made in the name of Vincent and Leda Cuccio to the Sean Ashley House for Individuals with Autism. Mikie Ill always remember going to see your mom when got dressed up to go the Christmas Party. She was always in such good spirits and kept us laughing. Will miss her.Love ya Josette
