Leila Ross, a beloved resident of Port Neches, Texas, passed away peacefully on January 31, 2024, at the age of 91. Her residence in Port Neches served as a comforting sanctuary during the final moments of her life.
Visitation for family members will be held on Thursday, February 1, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Melancon Levingston Funeral Home in Port Neches. Following the visitation, a heartfelt funeral service will take place at 2:00 p.m., also at Melancon Levingston Funeral Home. The final resting place for Leila will be at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches.
Leila was born on November 27, 1932, in Rochester, Minnesota. She was the cherished daughter of Samuel and Maude Long. In her younger years, she proudly served her country as a member of the United States Air Force. Afterwards, she embarked on a career as a salesclerk at a department store—a role where she thrived due to her warm-hearted nature and exceptional customer service.
Leila was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Huey Gene Ross Sr., and her loving parents, Samuel Harold Long, and Maude (Busher) Long.
Leila leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion. She will be deeply missed by her two sons: Gene Ross and his wife Susan of Bella Vista, AK; and Ronald Ross and his wife Linda of Village Mills, TX. Additionally, she is survived by three daughters: Marilyn Marshall and her husband Robert of Port Neches; JoAnn Garcia and her husband Oscar of Woodville; Peggy Hebert and her husband Joe of Ragley, LA; ten grandchildren enriched Leila's life with joy and laughter: Ernie and David Crochet, Rhonda Rhodes, Jamie Talley, Don Lemke, Robert Marshall, Christine Marioneaux, Chad Ross, Gene Ross Jr., and Jennifer Ross. Furthermore, she leaves behind eighteen great-grandchildren who brought immense happiness to her later years.
While our hearts ache from her absence, let us find solace in the memories we shared with her—the moments that forever etched themselves into our souls. Rest in peace, dear Leila. You will forever reside within our hearts.
