Lena Mae Whitman Williford

July 11, 1926 — January 7, 2019

Lena Mae Whitman Williford, 92, of Port Neches, Texas passed away Monday, January 7, 2019. Lena is the daughter of Benjamin Larkin Whitman and Willie Mae Jones Whitman. She was born in Shreveport, Louisiana and moved to Texas as a child. She lived the rest of her life in Port Arthur, Groves and Port Neches. She graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1944 and was married to Henry Neal Williford, Jr. for almost 46 years. She was a member and Past Worthy Matron of Groves Eastern Star Chapter No. 953. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church, Port Arthur, and was a Sunday school teacher there for many years, and is now a member of First Baptist Church of Nederland. Lena traveled extensively and Lena and Henry square danced their way from the Arctic Circle in Alaska to the Yucatan in Mexico. Lena was ever grateful for the love and friendships she shared with neighbors and friends. Lena was preceded in death by her parents, Larkin and Willie Mae Whitman; her husband, Henry Neal Williford, Jr.; her son, Gary Williford; and her sister, Vivian Dugas. Survivors include her children, Neal Williford and wife Terry of Porter, Larry Williford and wife Laura of Nacogdoches, Karen Lee and husband Dale of Orange, and Cathy McMillan of Elgin; ten grandchildren, Raina Bell, Dawson Williford, Holly Earl, Lindsey Falconer, Allison Ben-Shabat, Brannon Lee, Evan McMillan, Travis McMillan, Kelton McMillan, Brent Williford; and fourteen great-grandchildren. A visitation for family and friends will be Saturday, January 12, 2019 from 1:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m. at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves. Graveside services will be held at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, January 12, 2019 at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Baptist Church of Nederland or Cowboy Church of Orange County.
