Leon (Mickey) Emile Lehman Sr. 86 of Taft, Texas passed away on Thursday December 29th, at Angel Bright Hospice in Corpus Christi Texas. He was born March 10th, 1936, in Port Arthur to the late Bernice and Mause John Lehman.
He lived in Port Acres for 55 years, attended Stephen F Austin High school while working at Guzardo’s feed store. Joined the United States Marine Corps serving for 2 years, then went to work for the city of Port Arthur driving the city bus for 1 year, then hired in as a deck hand at Gulfport Shipyard becoming a tugboat captain for 16 years, worked for the city of Nederland for 15 years, worked for the Farmers market by the Rainbow bridge for 3 years.
Mickey enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, hunting, crabbing all his life, he moved to Taft Texas in 2014 where he enjoyed growing his garden of vegetables, taking walks to visit with the neighbors. In the evenings he would watch his great grand kids playing outside and sometimes joined in on the fun, always supplying them with snacks.
He is preceded in death by: his son Leon Lehman Jr. 2 sisters Lois White, Sylvia Garcia, and Daughter in law Donna Lehman.
He is survived by: his sister Laura Fay Reese of Nederland, Texas, his son Anthony Lehman of Port Neches, Texas, 2 daughters Petra Redman and husband Reggie Redman of Highland Village, Texas, and Cynthia Hettinger and husband Kevin Hettinger of Taft, Texas. 8 grandchildren: Michael Brown Jr. and fiancé Samantha Jackson of Portland, Texas, Somer Redman of Lewisville, Texas, Matthew Hettinger and Wife Brandy Hettinger of Key West, Florida, Reggie Redman Jr. and fiancé Taylor Marcotte of Highland Village, Texas, Shea Harrison and husband Cecil Harrison of Aubrey, Texas, Brandie Hettinger and fiancé Mike Arispe of Taft, Texas, Laura Alvis and husband Josh Alvis of Irving, Texas, Miranda Hettinger of Taft, Texas. 14 Great Grandchildren: Hailey Brown, Savannah Hettinger, Stanley Hettinger, Kayden Redman, Tanner Harrison, Braiden Arispe, Jason Medina, Melanie Medina, Jude Redman, Bear Harrison, Kylee Medina, Matthew Castillo, Eden Redman, Lacey Brown.
A gathering of family and friends for a visitation will be held on Saturday, March 11, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Melancon's Funeral Home in Nederland, Texas. A Memorial Service to honor Mickey's life will immediately follow the visitation and will begin at 11:00 a.m. at Melancon's Funeral Home.
