Leonard Palombo, 73, of Port Acres, Texas passed away Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont, Texas. Leonard was born January 24, 1942 in Port Arthur, Texas to Chester Joseph Palombo and Leola Chatagnier Palombo. He graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School in 1960. He retired from the US. Army after 20 years of serving our country in Vietnam and many foreign countries and also the United States. After his retirement he was employed by the PAISD as a teacher. Leonard was member of Port Acres Sports Man's Club and an avid hunter and fisherman. Survivors include his two daughters, Kristy Johnson and husband Marcus of Port Arthur, Marianne Vandergiessen and husband Arie of Skowhegan, ME; two sisters, Kathy Palombo and Judy Palombo both of Port Acres; three brothers, Richard Palombo and wife Wanda of Groves, Ken Palombo and wife Carla of Huntsville, Edward Palombo and wife Becky of Woodstock, GA; five grandchildren, Lundi Blanchard, Ryan and Leigh Ann Penland, Olivia and Natalie Vandergiessen. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 20, 2015 at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday evening from 5:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Friends wishing to make memorial contributions may send them to Wounded Warriors.
